Prayer Workshops

More Info on the Prayer Workshops

Year two of prayer workshops! Raise your hand if you have a vibrant prayer life that never has any difficulties, times of distraction, disconnect, and boredom, where you always know how to pray, and it genuinely is a two-way communion between you and God where you listen and are transformed more than you pray your own will and desires to God…. yeah, my hand isn’t raised either.

We all have a hard time with prayer… because prayer is hard. It’s wonderful. It’s life-changing. It can be downright delightful, inspiring, encouraging, peaceful, and unspeakably holy and good… but often, day to day, it’s hard or confusing or mundane or all of those at once. One of the roles of the church, of the assembly of followers of Christ, is to encourage and disciple one another in how to follow Jesus. So, we are providing three workshops on prayer to help strengthen, clarify, grow, deepen, and encourage your prayer life.

This means that no matter how awesome or how inexperienced or how wonderful or how messy and inconsistent your prayer life might be, these workshops will bless and encourage you, and provide some good fellowship with others who are also seeking God in prayer. We are not meant to do this alone, beloved. Please consider joining us for one or more of the following workshops:

Praying Scripture presented by Krista Konyk, 10 am, in the cozy Brooks & Beans Cafe. This is a fantastic workshop on why we can and should pray Scripture, how to read Scripture in context and pray according to God’s character, God’s promises, and God’s truth, not merely our own ideas and desires, allowing God’s Word to shape our prayers and shape us as we listen to God and pray His Word back to Him. This is particularly helpful if you, like me, often don’t know what to pray.

if you stay between these, we’ll give you coffee and tea and probably hot chocolate. There might be mini marshmallows.

Knowing God by Name presented by Bethany Scratch, 11:30 am, in the Brooks & Beans Cafe. We will be meditating on the names of God in Scripture, what this reveals about God, and practicing contemplative prayer together.

Prayer Bible Workshop also presented by Krista Konyk, 1:00-4:00 pm, in the Brooks & Beans Cafe. Okay, I know it seems like a super long time – the actual teaching portion only takes like the first 20-30 minutes, depending on how much talking we do that interrupts Krista, and the rest of the time is ‘quiet fellowship’ where we work on our prayer Bibles and talk about Scripture, our lives, what God has been doing in us, etc., and it’s wonderful. This is also the second Prayer Bible Workshop that the guys are allowed to attend 😀 So please join us! This is a practical tool for meditating on the Word of God and praying Scripture. Remember to bring any pens, highlighters, tabs, and scrapbooking supplies you’d like to use (we will have lots to share, but if you already have some please bring them) and a Bible you want to make into your prayer Bible. If you want to know more about prayer Bibles, check out this video or contact Krista, she loves to share about them.
