Week of Prayer & Fasting
Each year, we start with a week of Prayer & Fasting together as a church.
Prayer Guide
Pick up your print copy of the Daily Prayer Devotional at the church or use the digital copy provided in the church newsletter. The guide includes Scripture to meditate on and inspire our prayers, along with a list of congregant members, church leaders, and missionaries to pray for each day.

Everyone is invited to pray with us corporately throughout the week at the daily prayer gatherings (schedule and locations below). To end the week, join us at our 10 am service on Sunday, Jan. 12 for a Souper Sunday Celebration and stay after the service to share a meal and hear how God has been working throughout the week.

More Info on the Prayer Workshops
Okay, so this is a new thing we’re trying this year, so bear with us. Raise your hand if you have a vibrant prayer life that never has any difficulties, times of distraction, disconnect, and boredom, where you always know how to pray, and it genuinely is a two-way communion between you and God where you listen and are transformed more than you pray your own will and desires to God…. yeah, my hand isn’t raised either.
We all have a hard time with prayer… because prayer is hard. It’s wonderful. It’s life-changing. It can be downright delightful, inspiring, encouraging, peaceful, and unspeakably holy and good… but often, day to day, it’s hard and confusing. One of the roles of the church, of the assembly of followers of Christ, is to encourage and disciple one another in how to follow Jesus. So, we are providing three workshops on prayer to help strengthen, clarify, grow, deepen, and encourage your prayer life.
This means that no matter how awesome or how inexperienced or how wonderful or how messy and inconsistent your prayer life might be, these workshops will bless and encourage you, and provide some good fellowship with others who are also seeking God in prayer. We are not meant to do this alone, beloved. Please consider joining us for one or more of the following workshops:
Prayer… Such a Good Idea presented by Wendell Phillips, 10-11 am, in the Student Centre. This is all the information he’s given me, so come check it out, it’s very mysterious and interesting!
if you stay between these, we’ll give you coffee and tea and probably hot chocolate. There might be mini marshmallows.
Praying Scripture presented by Krista Konyk, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm, in the Student Centre. This is a fantastic workshop on why we can and should pray Scripture, how to read Scripture in context and pray according to God’s character, God’s promises, and God’s truth, not merely our own ideas and desires, allowing God’s Word to shape our prayers and shape us as we listen to God and pray His Word back to Him. This is particularly helpful if you, like me, often don’t know what to pray.
Prayer Bible Workshop presented by Krista Konyk, 1:00-5:00 pm, in the Student Centre. Okay, I know it seems like a super long time – the actual teaching portion only takes like the first 20-30 minutes, depending on how much talking we do that interrupts Krista, and the rest of the time is ‘quiet fellowship’ where we work on our prayer Bibles and talk about Scripture, our lives, what God has been doing in us, etc., and it’s wonderful. This is also the first Prayer Bible Workshop that the guys are allowed to attend 😀 So please join us! This is a practical tool for meditating on the Word of God and praying Scripture. Remember to bring any pens, highlighters, tabs, and scrapbooking supplies you’d like to use (we will have lots to share, but if you already have some please bring them) and a Bible you want to make into your prayer Bible. If you want to know more about prayer Bibles, check out this video or contact Krista, she loves to share about them.
Weekly Prayer Events
Sunday Morning Prayer
Join us Sunday Morning at 9:00 am in the Welcome Centre for a time of prayer; asking God to move through the service and throughout the week. Everyone is welcome.
Why Pray?
Situations arise where we need immediate prayer support. We believe God answers our prayers and uses prayer as our encouragement to call on him as we engage the various challenges and celebrations in life.
Philippians 4:6-7 is an invitation to call on God and invite his care into our lives. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God,which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
